Galaxy S23 Ultra or iPhone 14 Pro Max: which has the best battery life?

Samsung’s Galaxy S23 Ultra and Apple’s iPhone 14 Pro Max are the most popular and desired high-end smartphones on the market. Android on the one hand, iOS on the other, how are these generations doing in terms of battery?

We know that Apple has been the queen in this field for the past few years. But with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 power optimization present in the Galaxy S23 Ultra, how does the device really fare against Apple’s rival?

The iPhone 14 Pro Max continues to outperform the Galaxy S23 Ultra in autonomy… but just barely

That’s what YouTuber PhoneBuff tried to find out in his latest video. Smartphones were placed side by side, performing various tasks. And although the iPhone 14 Pro Max was the big winner in the test, the difference between the two is not that great.

As you can see in the first four hours of testing, the autonomy in calls, messages, email and browser was tested. And both devices lost 20%, staying at 80% battery at this point.

The interesting thing is that after 16 hours in standby, it was even the Galaxy S23 Ultra that performed best. At the time, it had a 69% battery, compared to 66% on the iPhone 14 Pro Max. And that held up while testing games and Google Maps.

But it was when Spotify or Snapchat came into action that the iPhone was able to take the lead, and it stayed that way until the end of the test. As you can see, the iPhone had a 6% autonomy when the Galaxy S23 was fully discharged.

Thus, the iPhone 14 Pro Max achieved 11 hours and 44 minutes of activity, plus 16 hours on standby. The Galaxy S23 Ultra managed 11 hours and 6 minutes of activity, plus 16 hours of standby. Which means that, although there are differences, you will have great autonomy in both devices.
