Galaxy S21 FE: Samsung removes all reference to the smartphone, it’s the end

We’ve been waiting for Samsung to announce its Galaxy S21 FE for several months now, but it looks like the smartphone will simply never arrive. Samsung has half-heartedly confirmed the cancellation of its launch.

After delaying the launch of the smartphone due to the shortage of chips, Samsung has finally decided to completely cancel the release of its Galaxy S21 FE. Indeed, a leak had already indicated that Samsung had canceled its Galaxy Unpacked event, and it seems that the Korean giant has just confirmed the end of the smartphone.

However, we know that Samsung had already manufactured a few copies of the Galaxy S21 FE, and had even started to display the name of the smartphone in one of its stores. Yet as the launch quickly approached, Samsung has likely dashed all consumer hopes that it will ever happen.

Samsung has removed all traces of the Galaxy S21 FE

Before each launch, Samsung has a habit of posting support pages for its smartphones on its official website, where it usually lists the model number of future devices. The Galaxy S21 FE, which responds to the model name SM-G990B, had already been entitled to its page on the Samsung site, but our colleagues at SamMobile report that the Korean giant has simply deleted all references to the smartphone, which suggests that the smartphone will never see the light of day.

It seems that the culprits of this cancellation are the shortage of chips, which has been crippling the entire industry for more than a year now, as well as the unexpected success of the Galaxy Z Flip 3. Indeed, Samsung’s clamshell smartphone is now available for less than 1000 euros, while its predecessor started at 1499 euros. This significant drop in the price has probably convinced a large number of customers to try the experience of folding smartphones.

This year, Samsung could also be slightly ahead of its usual schedule, which would lead it to offer the new Galaxy S22 more quickly. The delay accumulated by the Galaxy S21 FE probably reinforced Samsung in its decision to cancel the launch, since the smartphone would have been replaced too quickly by the new generation.
