Gakpo finally awake

Cody Gakpo has finally had his first big game for Liverpool. It has taken time, but he has not chosen a bad day. In his seventh game as a player gridbut at Anfield and in a Merseyside derby. His 2-0 gave peace of mind to some stands that already see signs of the player he fell in love with in 2022 in Eindhoven.

It was an important goal, but it’s almost the least of it. Because it came with a pass from Alexander-Arnold deflected by a defender, because it was to push it to the far post. But the player’s attitude was much more similar to what led Liverpool to pay close to 50 million euros for him. Gakpo intervened more in the game, having more presence in the creation of the plays and being more of a protagonist.

In the World Cup, Gakpo earned an image that was not what really made him special. He scored three goals, but appearing very little in the game and yes in the completion of the plays. Being a footballer with a lot of goals, he attracts more attention when he is able to break defensive lines with his driving, he can face rivals and make a difference with his speed.

Gakpo went to the bench in minute 80 being applauded by his new fans. Before, Jota had come out of that bench. Klopp recovers the Portuguese a week after facing Madrid, while Luis Díaz is still recovering. Liverpool becomes more fearsome when the most important stretch of the season arrives.
