Gabriela Michel, Aislinn Derbez’s Mother, Died From Heart Attack Complicated by Fall

Recent reports have clarified the final moments of Gabriela Michel, mother of actress Aislinn Derbez. Her daughter had previously announced Michel’s death was due to a heart attack.

New journalistic accounts confirm the voice actress was living peacefully and in good health when a sudden heart attack led to her passing. She was 65 years old.

Reporter Ana María Alvarado revealed on the program ‘Sale el Sol’ that Michel had resided for several months in an assisted living facility. This facility offered medical services, daily care, and supervised residents.

Aislinn Derbez reportedly chose this residence for her mother. The decision came after Michel’s separation from Jorge Alberto Aguilera, aiming to provide constant companionship, security, and support.

Alvarado clarified it was not an “asylum” but a specialized building. Residents received daily check-ups and monitoring, ensuring Michel lived a tranquil life without significant health issues.

However, Michel’s death was not solely attributed to the heart attack. She also lost her balance and suffered a severe head injury, which ultimately prevented medical staff from saving her.

Her personal life was also undergoing a delicate process. Journalist Matilde Obregón interviewed Jorge Alberto Aguilera, Michel’s ex-partner of over 30 years.

Aguilera confirmed their separation occurred months before her death but stated it was amicable. Both assured the breakup was peaceful, maintaining a close friendship despite the emotional distance.

According to El Heraldo de México, Aguilera described the separation as “a pause.” He openly expressed the possibility of reconciliation in the future.

In the 1980s, Gabriela Michel was also married to comedian Eugenio Derbez, Aislinn’s father. They divorced in 1987, a year after Aislinn’s birth.

Michel left a significant mark on Latin American voice acting over three decades. She lent her voice to many iconic characters in television and film.

Her notable roles included “Samantha Jones” in the Spanish version of ‘Sex and the City.’ She also voiced “Queen Clarion” in the ‘Tinker Bell’ saga and participated in films like ‘The Santa Clause.’

Additionally, Michel contributed to various animated series, establishing herself as a respected figure in the industry. Her work extended to institutional and commercial voiceovers.

Colleagues and young talents often highlighted her professionalism and warmth. Her discipline and passion for acting solidified her legacy in the art of voice.
