G2 Esports Secures Historic Third VCT Americas VALORANT Championship

G2 Esports wrote another chapter in the VALORANT history books last Sunday. The team secured their third VCT Americas championship. This big win saw them take home a cool $100,000. They are now the only team to achieve a three-peat in the region’s top league.

The grand finale of the VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) Americas Stage 2 for 2025 unfolded on the 31st. It pitted the reigning champions, G2 Esports, against NRG. The best-of-five series was a decisive one. G2 showed why they were the team to beat, sweeping NRG with a 3-0 victory. This performance solidified their spot as the first-ever three-time regional champions.

Both teams had a tough road to reach this championship match. G2 Esports had a dominant run through the upper bracket. They defeated 100 Thieves, NRG, and Sentinels without losing a single series. NRG, on the other hand, faced a more challenging path. They had to beat Leviatán, Cloud9, and Sentinels after an earlier loss to G2 in the upper bracket semifinal.

Even with their loss in the final, NRG still punched their ticket to something even bigger. They secured their spot in VALORANT Champions, the world championship for the game. This marks NRG’s first time competing on such a global stage. The big tournament will be held in Paris, France, running from September 12 to October 5. Four teams from the Americas region are headed to the world championship. These powerful contenders are MIBR, G2 Esports, Sentinels, and NRG.
