FWICE Urges PM Modi to Award Late Satish Shah Posthumous Padma Shri

The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has formally appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. They request that the late veteran actor Satish Shah be posthumously awarded the Padma Shri.

Shah, a beloved figure in both television and film, passed away on October 25 at the age of 74. His demise sent shockwaves through the Indian entertainment industry.

The Padma Shri is India’s fourth-highest civilian honor. FWICE believes this recognition would be a fitting tribute to his significant contributions.

In its letter, FWICE “humbly requests Prime Minister Narendra Modi to consider awarding the Padma Shri award (posthumously) to one of India’s most popular actors, the late Satish Shah.”

The federation highlighted Shah as “a talented artist whose work brought joy, laughter, and emotions to millions across our country.” His performances made him a household name.

His notable roles include work in ‘Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi,’ ‘Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai,’ ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro,’ and ‘Main Hoon Na.’ These roles cemented his status as an icon of performing arts excellence.

FWICE emphasized his “versatility, comedy, and demeanor.” These qualities made him “one of the most respected and acclaimed personalities in the Indian entertainment world.”

The letter further stated that a posthumous Padma Shri would be “a suitable tribute to his life dedicated to art, culture, and service through entertainment.”

This request is made on behalf of the “entire film and television fraternity” operating under FWICE.

Earlier this year, Shah reportedly underwent a kidney transplant. This procedure was for the care of his wife, Madhu, who was suffering from Alzheimer’s.
