FURIA Wins Fissure Playground #2 CS2, Brazil Celebrates First Tier S Title

A significant shift in the competitive Counter-Strike 2 scene unfolded recently. The Brazilian squad FURIA claimed victory at the Fissure Playground #2, an international championship, this past Sunday, the 21st. Their win against The MongolZ in a best-of-five series has put them back on top.

It marks a major comeback for the region in top-tier Counter-Strike finals. A team from the area hadn’t reached such a high-stakes decision since December 2017. Back then, SK Gaming took down FaZeClan in the ESL Pro League Season 6 Finals. FURIA’s 3-2 victory over the Mongolian team delivered a long-awaited moment of glory.

Here is how each map played out:

  • Mirage: FURIA 16×13 The MongolZ
  • Inferno: The MongolZ 13×11 FURIA
  • Nuke: FURIA 16×12 The MongolZ
  • Overpass: The MongolZ 13×9 FURIA
  • Dust2: FURIA 13xX The MongolZ

This win is a first for FURIA in a “Tier S” tournament, a top category event. It also represents the first Counter-Strike 2 championship for a Brazilian team. Even more impressive, they defeated the team currently ranked number one by Valve. This victory shows a strong return to form for the region in Valve’s popular first-person shooter.

Beyond the prestige, the title earned FURIA approximately $360,000. This came from a total prize pool of $1.25 million, which was shared among all participating teams. This strong showing cements Brazil’s position as a major player in the global Counter-Strike landscape once again.
