The Counter-Strike 2 scene just got a whole lot more exciting. FURIA, a team from Brazil, made history by taking home the first-ever Brazilian world title in the tactical FPS game from Valve. They beat Supernova Comets from the US in a thrilling matchup at the ESL Impact Season 7 Finals.
This wasn’t FURIA’s first rodeo. They’d been to the finals five times before, but always ended up as runners-up. Determined to change their luck, they dove into the best-of-three series against Supernova Comets. The first map, Ancient, didn’t go their way – Supernova took it 13-11, thanks to Lucy “empathy” Verkaik’s 35 kills.
But FURIA wasn’t about to give up. They shifted gears on Dust2, playing a fast-paced game that left Supernova in the dust. They took the map 13-7, tying the series 1-1. The final map, Inferno, was just as intense. FURIA dominated, winning 13-9 and taking the championship title.
The Winning Team
The FURIA lineup consisted of:
- Kaah Tak
- Bizinha
- Ludubra
- Izaa Galle
- Gabs Freindorfer
Their big win earned them $50,000 – approximately R$288,000.
