Esports fans watched a high-stakes match this past Thursday, July 17. The Brazilian team FURIA faced off against FlyQuest in the League of Legends portion of the Esports World Cup (EWC). This was a critical game for FURIA, a chance to keep their hopes alive in the global competition.
FURIA’s goal was clear: win and earn a spot in the sought-after playoffs. Standing in their way was FlyQuest, a North American team that had just knocked out Cloud9 the day before, on July 16. FlyQuest also holds the current title for the League of The Americas (LTA) North.
The match, however, ended quickly for FURIA. Just 29 minutes in, FlyQuest dominated the game, ending FURIA’s run in the EWC. The Brazilian squad will now head back home. They are set to compete in the third stage of the LTA South on July 26, where they will face Fluxo W7M.
