FURIA CS2 breaks three-year taboo, qualifies for ESL Pro League S22 playoffs

A major esports team, FURIA, just snagged a coveted spot in the ESL Pro League Season 22 playoffs. They achieved this by defeating Aurora on Tuesday morning, October 7, 2025, in a thrilling Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) match. This win means a lot. It’s the first time the Brazilian squad has reached this stage in three years.

The path to the playoffs was not easy. FURIA almost faced elimination during the tournament’s first stage. But the team, often called “the furious ones” by fans, showed up with fresh energy for the second phase. They secured their spot among the top eight teams with an impressive record of three wins and just one loss. Their last appearance in a Pro League knockout round was in April 2022. They finished in 3rd or 4th place back then.

The match against Aurora was a real nail-biter. FURIA started strong, dominating the Inferno map with a 13-3 victory. However, Aurora fought back, evening the score with a 13-9 win on Mirage. The deciding map was Overpass. It went all the way to overtime, where FURIA ultimately triumphed 16-12, securing the best-of-three series 2-1.

With this victory, FURIA joins Spirit and Falcons as the first teams to qualify for the Pro League playoffs. The Brazilian organization will return to the servers this Friday, October 10. Their next match’s time and opponent are still to be decided. The competition is heating up, and fans are eager to see how far FURIA can go.
