KABUL: News of the arrival and entertainment of armed Taliban officials at the Kabul Zoo on Friday is making headlines in the media. Taliban officials also grabbed their weapons from the children at the zoo and took pictures.
It was a whole new experience for the young fighters from rural Afghanistan when Taliban fighters armed with AK-47s and M-16s swung and hugged the people at the Kabul Zoo.
According to the French news agency AFP, Taliban fighters took selfies and took pictures in different ways at the zoo, but this satisfactory situation changed when a fighter grabbed a deer by its horns and his companion laughed. They started installing.
After Friday prayers, armed Taliban fighters came out, some unarmed and wearing traditional hats, turbans and shawls. “I really like animals, especially the ones found in our country,” said Abdul Qadir, a 40-year-old Taliban member who now works for the interior ministry.
“The Taliban are in favor of giving up their weapons and coming here, so that women and children are not intimidated,” he said.
Samir, who is in Kabul waiting to return to London and was at the zoo with his son and nephew, said he had been having a difficult time since the Taliban came to power. “We didn’t expect the Taliban to come so soon. There is peace in Kabul, but the thing is, people don’t feel safe like they (the Taliban) are,” he said.
The entrance fee to the Kabul Zoo is 40 cents, but some Taliban entered without paying the fee, and they clearly ignored the signboard that read, “No weapons in the zoo.” Û”
It may be recalled that earlier this month, a group of Taliban fighters had fun at the Kabul Zoo, during which some fighters also posed for pictures with their weapons pointed at the animals.
