Froome ran the Tour despite having a bilharzia outbreak

The manager of the Israel Start-Up, Sylvan Adams, has revealed in an interview to the VeloNews portal what were the reasons for Chris Froome’s discreet performance during the last Tour de France, in the first edition that he played in the Israeli team.

Adams revealed that Froome suffered an outbreak of bilharzia in the summer, a parasitic infection caused by a worm and that Froome himself already lived in his flesh 10 years ago. That made the British cyclist run visibly impaired and tired.

The Israel Start-Up manager gave more details about what happened to Froome. “Chris had various medical problems and during the Tour de France he crashed. I think it was the toughest Tour de France he has ever done. It expended a lot of energy. They detected that he had bilharzia, he was medicated and achieved a great season finale. He improved his results and I am optimistic that we will see old Froome again. fighting for the big tours, “said Adams, who hopes there will be no more shocks on the way back to Froome’s elite after several difficult years after the very hard crash he suffered at the Dauphiné in 2019.
