From scrap metal to solar-powered car, meet this green Beetle created in Nigeria

A Nigerian student named Oyeyiola has created an eco-friendly beetle that runs on solar and wind energy, ideal for the area he lives in due to the extreme weather conditions.

For the creation of this vehicle, he used mostly scrap metal parts and around $6,000 donated by friends and family.

The Volkswagen Beetle has been redesigned and has unique features. One of the most interesting is that it can generate power for the owner while driving. It uses solar panels on the roof and a wind turbine under the hood to take advantage of air circulation and power your vehicle up front.

VW, wind car, Nigeria, efficient vehicle prototype

The battery takes 4-5 hours to fully charge, which makes it a little difficult to use, but the prototype still needs some tweaking.

Obtaining the necessary materials in Nigeria was difficult and the student also had to face criticism from others who thought he was wasting his time. But you’ve completed the prototype and are now working on the final product of your project.

His plan is to finish the final exams and then go back to the project to improve the design to make it “Nigeria’s car of the future“.

Do you think Oyeyiola has a chance with its ecological beetle? Do not you think? In the current context of the fossil fuel crisis and the environmental pollution caused by its emissions, thinking about a type of greener transport and above all affordable is the key.
