From ‘Hera Pheri’ to ‘Selfie’, these Akshay Kumar movies are remakes of South, you know what?

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar is in discussion these days about his new movie Selfie which is set to be released in theaters very soon. Emraan Hashmi will also be seen with him in this. This is not an original movie but a Hindi remake of Malayalam movie Driving License. However, even before this, Akshay Kumar has worked on remakes of many Southern movies.

Akshay Kumar has reportedly joined the main cast of ‘Hera Pheri 3’. The first film in this franchise was released in the year 2000, Hera Pheri, in which Akshay was seen alongside Paresh Rawal and Sunil Shetty. This is the Hindi remake of the Malayalam film Ramji Rao which was released in the year 1989.

‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ helped Akshay Kumar become a stable star. In this he shared the screen with Vidya Balan, Shiney Ahuja, Ameesha Patel. People liked this movie made under the direction of Priyadarshan. However, very few people know that his film is the Hindi remake of Manichitrathazhu, in which Mammootty played the lead role. After this this film was made in Tamil as Chandramukhi in which Rajinikanth was the lead actor.

Akshay Kumar’s film Lakshmi was in the spotlight. Its director was Raghav Lawrence. Raghav had previously made this film under the title ‘Kanchana’ which was released in the year 2011. However, Akshay Kumar’s film Lakshmi received mixed reactions.

The psychological thriller Kathputli was streamed on OTT last year in 2022, in which Akshay Kumar played the lead role. This film was made in Tamil language in the year 2018 under the name of Ratsasan. Stars like Vishnu Vishal and Amala Paul performed in it.
