DSince the conviction of her brother Benjamin on January 25 in Iran, imprisoned for espionage, Blandine Brière indicates that she has not been able to reach him by telephone.
“My brother Benjamin, imprisoned in Iran, is a hostage”launched Friday, January 28 on France Inter Blandine Brière, sister of this Frenchman sentenced to 8 years in prison by justice in Iran. In an attempt to free her brother imprisoned for spying while he was traveling as a simple tourist, Blandine Brière launched a petition two days ago, it has already reached more than 89,000 signatures. “We absolutely must respond to his call for help”she implores in this petition, while her brother has been on a hunger strike since December 25.
On France Inter, Blandine Brière indicates that she has not been able to reach Benjamin on the phone since his conviction on January 25, a conviction which he will appeal. “I don’t know how he took this verdict and it scares me a lot”she says. “He is very weak but also very determined”she assures.
“Our calls are recorded and interpreted so I don’t have all the elements, but I know that he is in a place where no one speaks his language, and where he is with fellow prisoners who face the death penalty”, explains Blandine Brière. He has a lawyer on site and was visited by the French consul.
Blandine Brière said to be “Angry because we are fighting against a monster, but we must keep hope to ensure that there is justice. We can not do anything but talk about it a lot so that Benjamin does not fall into the wrong ‘oversight”she adds.
