A prominent French news channel was forced to suspend its live broadcast and evacuate its headquarters on Saturday following a bomb threat that prompted a significant police response.
BFMTV went off air from its Paris facilities at 3:19 PM local time (14:19 UTC), interrupting its scheduled programming.
The disruption lasted nearly two hours, with the channel resuming normal broadcasting around 5:50 PM local time (16:50 UTC).
The security alert originated from an email sent at 2:27 PM local time (13:27 UTC) which explicitly warned that a bomb would be planted.
Police units arrived at the scene around 3:00 PM local time (14:00 UTC), reportedly after receiving information that the building was scheduled to explode at 3:15 PM local time (14:15 UTC), according to French newspaper Le Parisien.
BFMTV confirmed the incident on its official X (formerly Twitter) account.

The network’s statement noted, “Our facilities were evacuated following a security alert. Law enforcement is on site conducting checks. Our programming is temporarily disrupted across all RMC and BFM channels.”
During the interruption, BFMTV aired pre-recorded segments and reports that had been previously broadcast.
Bomb disposal experts and explosive-sniffing dogs were deployed to the location as part of the police operation, Le Parisien reported.
Newspaper Le Figaro, which had access to the threat email, quoted the message as saying, “It’s up to the police to decide what to do.”
