French tennis player Gilles Simon announces he will retire at the end of the season

French tennis player Gilles Simon, former number 6 in the world and winner of 14 tournaments on the ATP circuit, announced on Saturday that he will end his career at the end of the current season.

"It has been a magical, wonderful and extraordinary adventure. It will end at the end of the year. There is no sadness or any regret. Just the will to give all I have left. In each serve, in each game, until the end"the 37-year-old native of Nice tweeted.

"Thank you very much to all who have made it possible"he added.

Currently 158th in the ATP rankings, Simon reached his best position on January 5, 2009, reaching 6th place in the world, after a 2008 season in which he won three titles (Bucharest, Indianapolis and Casablanca).
