The Minister of the Armed Forces, Florence Parly, announced the death on Tuesday of a French soldier engaged in Mali in an accident “during a maintenance operation”.
The marshal of the logis Adrien Quélin, mechanic in Operation Barkhane, carried out a maintenance operation on the engine of a truck when he was seriously injured by the tilting of the cabin, details of the General Staff of the Armies in a statement. He could not be resuscitated and succumbed to his injuries.

An investigation has been launched to shed light on the accident.
Adrien Quélin, 29 years old, belonged to the 4th regiment of hunters of Gap. He was single and had no children.
