Manzana has got one reduction of 728 million euros in the historical fine of 1,100 million euros that the company received in 2020 accused of signing anti-competitive agreements with two distributors.
As reported exclusively by the news agency Reutersthe Paris appeals court has agreed to reduce Apple’s total fine to €371.6 million. The antitrust agency, the Competition Authority (AC), has indicated that it is considering appealing the ruling to the French Supreme Court.
The original fine was imposed by France’s antitrust agency in 2020 for antitrust behavior by Manzana to its distribution and retail network.
At the time, it was the largest fine imposed by the antitrust regulator. The French agency not only fined Apple. Some of their business partners like Apple Tech Data and IngramMicro They were also fined €76 million and €63 million, respectively, for pricing that is contrary to French competition law.
Last year, at a hearing in the appeal case, Manzana accused French regulators of twisting antitrust rules “for political purposes”.
