French-born Rafik Guitane Finally Set for Algeria Debut Against Egypt

Two players from Portuguese club Estoril are poised for international action, with one seeking his debut after previous setbacks and the other joining a seasoned national squad for upcoming friendly matches.

Estoril forward Rafik Guitane has received a call-up for Algeria, potentially marking his first appearance for the North African team.

Algeria is scheduled to play two preparatory matches against Egypt. These games will occur on November 14 and November 17 at Al Salam Stadium in Cairo, Egypt.

Meanwhile, fellow Estoril attacker Alejandro Marqués will join the Venezuelan national team. He is expected to feature in friendlies against Nigeria on November 14 and Australia on November 15.

Guitane’s potential debut follows several prior disappointments. He was initially called up in 2024 but was sidelined by injury.

Last month, he was again selected for the squad but missed out due to further physical issues. He is now set to finally represent the “Desert Foxes.”

Born in France, Guitane played for the French national team at Under-17 and Under-19 levels. He was also eligible for Morocco and Algeria through his parents, ultimately choosing to play for Algeria.

Marqués brings more experience to his national squad, having already earned four international caps for “La Vinotinto.”
