Franmil Reyes gives 3 hits, Ramírez triples and reaches 30 RBIs

Franmil Reyes scored the tiebreaking run on Oscar Mercado’s single with two outs in the eighth inning, and the Cleveland Guardians beat the Toronto Blue Jays 4-3 on Sunday.

Toronto took a 3-2 lead entering the eighth, but Owen Miller’s one-out homer off Tim Mayza tied the score. Mayza retired Jose Ramirez, but Miller sent a 2-2 pitch into the stands in left field.

Adam Cimber (4-2) relieved with two out, allowing Reyes’ single and Andres Gimenez’s walk. Mercado, who was hit in the left hand by a pitch in the third, hit a 2-2 line drive to center field, and Reyes slid home before the throw.

Bryan Shaw (1-0) pitched the eighth and Emmanuel Clase pitched a perfect ninth for his sixth save of the season.

For the Guardians, the Dominicans Reyes 4-3 with runs scored, and Ramírez 3-1 with a triple, a run scored and one produced. The Colombian Mercado 3-1 with an RBI. The Venezuelan Giménez 3-1.

For the Blue Jays, the Dominicans Teoscar Hernández 4-1 with a couple of RBIs, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. 4-1, Raimel Tapia 3-0, and Santiago Espinal 3-1 with runs scored. Mexican Alejandro Kirk 3-0. Cuban Lourdes Gurriel Jr. 4-0.
