Francisco Cerúndolo and Schwartzman were eliminated in the Belgian ATP

The Argentines Diego Schwartzman and Francisco Cerúndolo were eliminated in the round of 16 of the ATP 250 tennis tournament in Antwerp, Belgium, losing against the Belgian David Goffin 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 and the Austrian Dominic Thiem 6 -1, 1-6 and 7-5, respectively.

The “Little” Schwartzman, ranked 19th in the ATP world ranking, made his debut directly in the round of 16 as the fourth seed, and quickly said goodbye when he was defeated by the Belgian Goffin (58th), after one hour and 52 minutes of confrontation.

The tennis player from Buenos Aires, who is not going through a good stage in his career, was surpassed by the effectiveness and experience of Goffin, who could only beat him once in six games.

Earlier, Francisco Cerúndolo, also from Buenos Aires, was left out of the contest when he fell to the Austrian Thiem (132nd), after two hours and seven minutes of play.

Cerúndolo, 24 years old and located in 28th place in the world ranking, lost to Thiem, relegated in the world ranking although he became third on the planet in 2020, the year in which he conquered the US Open, the most important of the 17 titles he obtained during his career.
