Francisco Cabral Ready for Estoril Open Semifinals with Austrian Partner Lucas Miedler

Francisco Cabral and Lucas Miedler are through to the Estoril Open semifinals after beating Karol Drzewiecki and Piotr Matuszewski 6-1, 3-6, 10-4. Cabral said they played well and stayed calm when they were down in the second set. “We knew we were the better team and believed we’d win most of the games,” he added.

What’s Next

Cabral and Miedler face Petr Nouza and Patrik Rikl in the semifinals tomorrow at 12:30 PM. Cabral knows the Czech duo well and expects a tough match. “They’re a dangerous team. One serves well, and the other responds well. They’ve won an ATP this year, so they’re on a roll,” he said.

Preparation is Key

Cabral is ready for the challenge. He’s not worried about the court conditions. “I’ve made up my mind not to make any requests. If I do and they don’t comply, it’ll only frustrate me,” he stated. The Portuguese tennis player has a strong track record, having won 14 out of 22 Challenger finals. He’s also won two ATP doubles titles, including the Estoril Open in 2022 alongside Nuno Borges.

Cabral is ranked 54th in the world doubles rankings. He believes a big crowd could be a deciding factor in the match. “I hope the fans turn out in large numbers. It could make all the difference,” he said.
