Francisco Cabral, the Portuguese tennis talent, just snagged another doubles title. He teamed up with Austria’s Lucas Miedler to win the Hangzhou tournament in China. On Tuesday, they took down Colombian Nicolás Barrientos and Dutch player David Pel. It was a clear victory, showing their strong partnership.
The top-seeded duo, Cabral and Miedler, didn’t waste any time. They cruised through the final match with a 6-4, 6-4 scoreline. The whole contest lasted just one hour and 21 minutes. Cabral sits at 31st in the world doubles rankings. Miedler is a bit higher, holding the 28th spot. Their opponents, Barrientos and Pel, are ranked 74th and 39th respectively.
This Hangzhou win marks Cabral’s fourth ATP career title. It’s his second victory this year alone alongside Miedler. They found success together earlier this season, clinching the Gstaad tournament. Cabral also has a history of winning big. In 2022, he lifted trophies at the Estoril Open and Gstaad with his compatriot, Nuno Borges.
This season hasn’t been without its challenges for the Portuguese-Austrian pair. They made it all the way to the final at Winston-Salem. However, they couldn’t quite seal the deal there. Brazilians Marcelo Melo and Rafael Matos defeated them. Interestingly, Cabral once played doubles alongside Matos. This win in Hangzhou proves their chemistry is hitting a high note.
