According to a recent Reuters report, Foxconn—the world’s leading electronics manufacturer—has unveiled its very own large-scale language model, dubbed FoxBrain. This major development is set to transform the company’s manufacturing processes and supply chain management, underscoring its commitment to harnessing artificial intelligence (AI) to optimize operations.
FoxBrain is engineered to enhance efficiency and support better decision-making across the business. By leveraging AI, Foxconn aims to streamline everything from data analysis and document collaboration to complex mathematical calculations and logical reasoning. This state-of-the-art technology could fundamentally change the way the company tackles problem-solving and even code generation.
Powered by NVIDIA GPUs, FoxBrain was trained on 120 NVIDIA H100 graphics processing units over roughly four weeks. Built on Meta’s Llama 3.1 architecture, the model is optimized for traditional Chinese and Taiwanese linguistic nuances, marking it as the first large-scale language model from Taiwan with advanced reasoning capabilities.
Initially developed for internal use, FoxBrain offers an impressive range of features, including data analysis, decision support, document collaboration, mathematical computation, logical reasoning, problem-solving, and code generation.
Looking ahead, Foxconn plans to collaborate with technology partners to further enhance FoxBrain’s capabilities. The company intends to share its insights through open-source channels, fostering the integration of AI into manufacturing, supply chain management, and intelligent decision-making. This strategy aims to build a more interconnected ecosystem that drives continuous innovation.
It’s also important to note that NVIDIA provided the technical support and infrastructure for training FoxBrain, using its “Taipei-1” supercomputer located in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. This partnership highlights the critical role of strategic collaborations in advancing AI technologies. Although FoxBrain may exhibit slightly different performance characteristics compared to the DeepSeek model, its overall results meet international standards. Foxconn is expected to reveal more details about its AI initiatives at the upcoming NVIDIA GTC developers’ conference scheduled for mid-March.
