‘Pride Month’ is going on in Kolkata, the capital city of West Bengal, India. People of ‘other’ sexes like homosexuals, third genders, transgenders etc. are openly talking about their rights. Suchetna Bhattacharya, the daughter of former West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharya, expressed her thoughts in a related workshop. He wants to change his gender from conscious to ‘conscious’. Who is physically born as a girl but mentally is a man and wants to become ‘conscious’ by changing gender physically as well. To that end, he has stepped up. He has already started the necessary legal and medical procedures for this. Recently he moved in with his girlfriend Suchanda. The two started living together. Suchetna Biswas, father Buddhadev Bhattacharya and mother Meera Bhattacharya will support this decision.
Suchetna Bhattacharya attended the LGBTQ workshop. Suprabha Roy was present there. Suprabha herself is a transgender. He changed his gender from Aparatima to Suprabha. Titled ‘Story of Gaurab Maas’
Suprabha posted long posts on social media. There he talks about becoming ‘conscious’ of consciousness. It was there that Suchetan became known as a transman in body, mind, and social media for the first time. But this time he wants to enter the struggle of the third gender and marginalized people in a larger perspective. Suchetan continues to mix the lives of people of the LGBTQIA+ community with suffering and struggle.’
Suchetna herself gave a statement about the workshop. Suchetna wrote, “The identity of my parents is not a big deal. I am part of this movement. As a transwoman, I have faced social harassment. I want it to stop. As an adult, I can make all the decisions about how to live. Don’t drag parents or family into it.’
Suchetna also said, ‘I am very proud and happy to attend the Action to Health of the LGBTQ+ Community Workshop on June 10, 2023 to celebrate the 80th founding year of the PRC. Each discussion topic in the workshop is thoughtful and relevant. I learned a lot about the rights and issues of LGBTQ+ people, which enriched, inspired and confident a transman like me. It was also great to meet LGBTQ+ people from different districts. The way they are fighting and moving forward against the eye-rolling, ridicule and hatred of the so-called mainstream society is very instructive to me. Heartfelt thanks to the PRC entrepreneurs for this effort. Thanks to the socially conscious people outside the LGBTQ+ circle who are also part of this movement.’
