Former Pakistani cricketer's prediction: Virat will soon retire from T20 cricket

Virat Kohli’s decision to leave the T20 cricket captaincy shows that all is not well in the Indian dressing room. Former Pakistani spinner Mushtaq Ahmed has said this. Virat Kohli had already announced before the start of the T20 World Cup that he would leave the captaincy of the T20 cricket team after the World Cup. Virat Kohli has also retired as captain of the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Commenting on his decisions, the former Pakistani cricketer said: ‘When a successful captain says he wants to leave the captaincy, understand that the atmosphere in the locker room is not right. I currently see 2 groups in the Indian dressing room: one in Mumbai and the other in Delhi. Mushtaq also said that I think Kohli will retire from T20 International cricket soon. They can still play IPL though.

Mushtaq also sees the IPL as the reason for the India team’s early departure. He says: ‘I agree with Ravi Shastri that the Indian players were not mentally prepared for the T20 World Cup. I was very tired after the IPL. This is the reason why they were unable to participate in the race for the semifinals.

Kohli, who left the T20 team captaincy, has rested for the series against New Zealand starting November 17. Rohit Sharma has been appointed captain in Kohli’s place. Fast bowlers Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja have also had a rest in this series.
