Former NBA star Paul Pierce was arrested by Los Angeles police on suspicion of driving under the influence after officers found him asleep at the wheel of his vehicle on a major California highway.
Police discovered Pierce in his stationary Range Rover on Highway 101, following an earlier traffic incident that had caused a temporary closure. Officers observed the vehicle remained motionless even after the road had been fully reopened.
Upon approaching the vehicle, officers found Pierce asleep. They quickly determined he appeared intoxicated based on their observations.
Pierce was subsequently detained and accused of driving under the influence (DUI). The initial traffic incident on Highway 101, which police resolved about an hour before finding Pierce, was unrelated to his vehicle.
