Former Chief Minister of Indian Punjab Prakash Singh Badal passed away

Former Punjab Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal passed away on Tuesday at the age of 95.

According to Indian media, the former Chief Minister of Punjab was admitted to Forts Hospital in Mohali and was ill for a long time. Prakash Singh Badal was the Chief Minister of Punjab for a record five times.

The senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader was admitted to Fortis Hospital in Mohali a week ago after complaining of breathing problems. He was also kept in the ICU on Monday, where doctors were closely monitoring his health.

Badal, a five-time chief minister of Punjab, was also admitted to the hospital in June last year due to gastritis and breathing problems.

After Corona, he was taken to a private hospital in Mohali in February 2022 for health check-up.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote that he was deeply saddened by the death of Shri Prakash Singh Badalji. He was a great figure of Indian politics and a remarkable politician who did a lot for our nation. He worked tirelessly for the development of Punjab and anchored the state in critical times.

The Indian President said that Shri Prakash Singh Badal was one of the greatest political leaders since independence. Although his exemplary career in public service was largely confined to Punjab, he was respected throughout the country. A void has been created by his demise. My heartfelt condolences to his family and fans.
