Former Australian legend Merv Hughes turns 60, ICC praises mustache

The International Cricket Council (ICC) congratulated former Australian fast bowler Merv Hughes on his 60th birthday today. Praising his hand-like mustache, the ICC said: “Happy birthday, Merv Hughes.”

Hughes, the all-time favorite on the cricket field, played 53 Trials and 33 One Day Internationals respectively in his competitive career spanning more than 15 years, taking 212 and 38 wickets respectively.

The ICC wrote on Twitter: “Biggest mustache in cricket history? Happy birthday, Merv Hughes! (Pie symbol)”.

Before long, the tweet garnered thousands of reactions from fans who posted photos of Indian Air Force fighter pilot Abhinandan, who was captured by Pakistan after his plane crashed. However, he was released after a few days.

One of the fans posted a photo of Abhinandan, also sporting a Hughes mustache, and wrote: “What about me, Abhinandan an all-rounder!”

Hughes is best known for his performance in the 1993 Ashes. After the expulsion of fellow bowler Craig McDermott, the bowler took nearly 300 overs in six trials and took 31 wickets, helping Australia win Series 4. -1.

Hughes entered the cricket administration as the Australian coach in 2005, replacing Allan Border. “I didn’t feel like part of the Australian team until the summer of 1990/91,” Hughes told cricket.com.au in February this year.
