OR WhatsApp is the most popular messaging app in the world. A position it has struggled to maintain amid Facebook group blackouts that have caused an exodus of users to Telegram and Signal, the largest rival apps. However, it is on the WhatsApp platform where the greatest novelty has been introduced and soon we will have something better even for your groups.
This is a new function discovered by the team of researchers at the XDA Developers portal called “Communities”. And, even though the exact outlines of this novelty are still fuzzy, from what has already been revealed, we may have something comparable or superior to WhatsApp groups.
Get ready for WhatsApp communities
First of all, it should be noted that this feature was detected in WhatsApp version 2.21.21.6 for Android – beta version. There in the portal XDA Developers, a dedicated team of dedicated developers deconstructed and analyzed the latest trial version.
This feature, called “Community”, has some points of contact with WhatsApp Groups, but goes further. From the analysis carried out, the programmers concluded that this will not only be a new name for WhatsApp groups, but a new function that will coexist with them.
The description, based on the analysis of the source code of the messaging application, points to the coexistence between both characteristics. It will apparently be a reinforcement of the social component of the messaging platform and, possibly, the next step in the evolution of group chats on this service.
The messaging app will be (even more so) a social network
Under the guidance of Mark Zuckerberg, WhatsApp has gradually assimilated some of the characteristic components of its own social network. Take, for example, the States or Status of WhatsApp that are nothing more than Instagram Stories, or Facebook itself.
Thus, even if the Community function is not applied and / or is made available -which is a real hypothesis- the evolution of WhatsApp will continue to be guided by the reinforcement of the social component. At the same time, we will have a greater similarity of the main triad of Facebook services.
For now, it’s important to remember that the Community role is on the messaging platform’s worklist. Its exact contours are unknown, and it could be the next chapter of the chats group, or hang out with them and add a new approach with enhanced socialization.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp keeps working to encrypt the backups / history of messages stored in the cloud, cloud. In addition, it also develops new controls for audio clips, among other incremental improvements.
