A motorist rushed onto the terrace of a restaurant in Fontainebleau (Seine-et-Marne), this Saturday, September 18. The driver was arrested.
The woman collided with several customers who were sitting on the terrace. Six injured would be deplored, according to a first provisional assessment, of which three would have been hospitalized urgently. But the thesis of a terrorist act would be dismissed. According to several witnesses, the driver would have first backed up at a restaurant, the Délice Impérial, located opposite the café France, before making a straight line towards the latter’s terrace.
A situation under control
For safety reasons and in order not to interfere with the intervention of the emergency services, the perimeter of the district has been cordoned off and closed to vehicular traffic. The mayor of the city Frédéric Valletoux tweeted a message to call on the inhabitants and onlookers not to interfere with the intervention of the authorities and the emergency services, while explaining that “the situation is under control”.
