Florida man killed in restaurant trying to protect baby

A 21-year-old man was shot and killed Tuesday night at a restaurant in Miami Beach, Florida, while dining on the terrace with his wife and one-year-old son.

Dustin Wakefield died trying to protect his family, police told theAssociated Press.

The shooter, Tamarius Blaur David Jr., allegedly told law enforcement that he “was stoned with mushrooms, which gave him the impression of having power.” The 22-year-old is from Norcross, Georgia.

A random victim

He would have chosen his victim at random. “Dustin stood between the shooter and the baby and he shot him,” Dustin Wakefield’s uncle told the Miami Herald. He shot him several times on the ground ”.

The killer then fled the establishment before being caught a few streets further by the police.

Tamarius Blaur David Jr. has been taken into custody, without bail, in the Miami-Dade County Jail. He’s charged with murder.
