The aircraft reached an altitude exceeding capacity
It was believed that the pilots had flown the plane too high due to its weight. Investigators say it should not have flown above 31,900 feet, but they actually took it to 33,000 feet. Due to the high altitude of the plane, its speed was decreasing and due to not taking necessary steps in time, the plane came down rapidly. Crashed to the ground at 2:31 a.m. local time.

Most of the people on board were French nationals, while one Italian and eight crew members were Colombians. It was found that the airline West Caribbean Airways was suffering from problems prior to the accident and had a poor record in terms of safety. A few days ago in May, a Tara Air plane carrying 19 passengers crashed in Nepal two days ago. During this, all 19 passengers and two crew members on board the plane died. According to preliminary investigation, bad weather is said to be the cause of the accident.
