Finance Minister says Government will redouble efforts to reduce tax avoidance and evasion

The Minister of Finance, Jochi Vicente, described this 2021 as a year of many lights in economic terms and announced that from now on the Government will redouble its efforts to reduce tax avoidance and evasion.

Through a series of tweets, this Monday the minister presented what he considers the most significant achievements of this year that is about to end. Among them, he highlighted that in terms of collections A package of administrative measures that historically have reduced state revenues are being dismantled.

He indicated that while the conditions are conducive to the tax reform the Government will take all necessary measures to guarantee debt sustainability and macroeconomic stability.

Vicente also pointed out some points that were pending and pointed out that the management of subsidies, especially that related to fuels, was one of the biggest problems of this year 2021.

Among the points that remained pending, he cited the submission of a law to dissolve the

Dominican Corporation of State Electric Companies (CDEEE), whose liquidation works he said are 99% complete.

The approval of the Punta Catalina public property trust was also pending.

 

Recovery

Vicente stressed that the economic recovery exceeded expectations because for this 2021 a real GDP growth of 5% was forecast and the country is expected to close the year with growth higher than 11%.

In addition, he added, as a consequence of the economic recovery and the administrative measures taken, tax collections will end up 28% above what was estimated at the beginning of the year.
