Film Doubles Budget, Star Harshvardhan Rane: ‘No More Street Posters’

Bollywood film ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ has achieved significant box office success, grossing over $6.2 million USD in its first nine days. The romantic drama continues to draw audiences to theaters.

The film’s team, including lead actor Harshvardhan Rane, actress Sonam Bajwa, and producer Anshul Garg, recently shared insights into the movie’s performance and their personal journeys. This comes amidst widespread enthusiasm for the project.

For Harshvardhan Rane, the success of ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ feels like a long-awaited reward. He reflected on his past work, noting how his film ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ gained widespread appreciation years after its release.

Rane compared his career progression to persistent prayer, stating, “It is not necessary that if we ask something from God, we get it immediately, but our job is to continue doing our work diligently. It took time, but my prayers had an effect and people started recognizing me.”

Producer Anshul Garg explained his decision to invest in the film was a “mixed decision.” He was particularly impressed by Rane’s performance in ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’. Garg believes romance remains Rane’s greatest strength as an actor.

Garg finalized his decision to back the film after reviewing the script, interval points, songs, and considering Rane’s involvement.

Rane himself embraces being typecast in romantic roles. He stated, “I have no problem doing the same kind of characters. Nothing in life feels better than romance to me. I enjoy this genre.”

Actress Sonam Bajwa discussed her delayed entry into Hindi cinema. She believes that everything has its own timing. Bajwa had received previous offers but made choices based on her understanding.

Bajwa expressed hope that her Bollywood career, which she feels is now beginning at the right time, will continue to bring good roles.

She found her character in ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ particularly enjoyable. Bajwa appreciated the complexity, saying, “The character was difficult, so it was more fun to play. I was happy to get such a character where I could do everything I wanted to do.”

The film made a strong debut, earning approximately $1.2 million USD on its opening day. Rane reacted to this news with characteristic humility.

He humorously noted that he would no longer have to put up posters on the street, but then immediately considered thanking people directly. Rane emphasized the importance of staying grounded.

Producer Anshul Garg reported that the audience response far exceeded expectations. The film, made on an approximate budget of $3 million USD, competed with a film budgeted at around $24 million USD during the Diwali period. Both films performed well.

Garg expressed immense satisfaction, stating, “In 10 days, our $3 million film has earned over $5.9 million, what more could one ask for?”
