FIFA 22: the video game breaks all sales records since its launch

Released on October 1, FIFA 22 remains the must-have football simulation every year, especially with the disappointing episode offered by its biggest rival eFootball, formerly known as PES, at the end of September.

The EA Sports license is a juggernaut in the world of video games, with more than 17,000 athletes represented in more than 700 teams, as well as 100 stadiums scattered across 30 world leagues.

In a statement released a week after its official launch, the leader of the football video game posts record numbers, with a total of 9.1 million players, 7.6 million teams created in Ultimate Team mode and 460 million of matches played on all platforms.

Everywhere in the top 5 sales of the week

This domination of FIFA 22 is also reflected on the physical level, with a top 5 sales for the week totally dominated by football simulation, leading on each platform, as evidenced by the publication on Twitter of the publishers’ union of entertainment software (SELL).

FIFA 22 leads sales this week on Sony consoles, namely the PS4 and PS5, as well as Microsoft’s, along with the Xbox One and Xbox Series. On Nintendo Switch, it is also the best-selling video game over the past week.

EA Sports is currently considering the possibility of renaming its game to dispense with the FIFA name, which has also had a strong reaction from the large video game community.
