FIA addresses Mercedes claim ahead of Canadian GP

A larger crowd than ever is expected to welcome Formula One as it returns to Canada after a two-year pandemic-enforced absence.

The series returns to the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal as its officials try to rectify the situation that has literally caused Mercedes and its 37-year-old multi-champion pain.

On Thursday, the FIA finally recognized that there is a “rebound” effect that has affected several of the new cars in 2022, mainly those of Mercedes and the British Lewis Hamilton, seven-time F1 monarch.

However, F1’s governing body did not act until after the Briton limped out of his car in Baku, Azerbaijan, after three days of bouncing around the circuit.
