It seems the developers of Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles are listening closely to their fans. A well-loved game mechanic, almost an unofficial tradition for many, is making a comeback. This move taps into a deep sense of nostalgia for players who’ve spent countless hours in the game’s world. This particular trick is as much a part of the game’s identity as its strategic battles.
According to a chat with the game’s creative minds, published on the Famitsu website, game director Kazutoyo Maehiro spoke about fan requests. Many dedicated players wanted to make sure they could still snag the famous Genji Gear armor from Elmdor. This was a classic move from the original game. Fans were really hoping this remake would let them do it again. Maehiro confirmed that yes, players absolutely can. A special patch will be available on launch day, bringing this popular player tactic back.
This news made many longtime fans incredibly happy. Taking those items from Elmdor early in the game was always a major source of fun. It also helped players get some of the best gear available. However, this particular move wasn’t possible in every version. The Japanese release of the original game blocked it. The first remake, The War of The Lions for PSP back in 2007, also did not allow it.
Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles arrives on October 1st. It will be available across many platforms. You can find it on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
