Fernando Cattori Shines in ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’: Mexican Actor Conquers Prime Video

There’s a new face turning heads in Hollywood, and he’s bringing some serious Mexican flair to our screens. Meet Fernando Cattori, a 26-year-old actor, director, and photographer who just made his big debut. He joined the cast of Prime Video’s hit series, The Summer I Turned Pretty, for its third season. Even though his role as "Benito" is a small one, it has already charmed viewers all over the world.

In the popular Prime Video show, Cattori pops up in episode 9, titled Last Call. His character appears when the main character, Belly, travels to Paris after a tough breakup. Benito steps in to help her after her backpack gets stolen, then takes her on a tour of the city.

His part in the story adds a welcome splash of newness and a touch of unexpected romance. Both critics and fans on social media are raving about his natural acting and the great chemistry he shares with the rest of the cast. It seems Benito quickly became a fan favorite.

Meet Fernando Cattori

Cattori grew up in Mexico City. He first studied Communications at Universidad Iberoamericana. But his true passion soon pulled him toward acting.

He honed his craft at respected institutions in Mexico, like Casa Azul and CADAC. Later, he sharpened his skills even further at the New York Film Academy. He also attended the David Geffen School of Drama at Yale, which is known as one of the best theater schools globally.

Beyond acting, Fernando has also built a strong career as a director and photographer. This has allowed him to explore many different aspects of visual storytelling.

Before landing his role on Prime Video, Cattori appeared in Mexican films such as Príncipes Salvajes, directed by Humberto Hinojosa. He also starred in Contigo en el futuro and Ceremonia. These experiences helped him become a versatile actor, easily moving between intense dramas and lighthearted youth stories.

His directing work has also made waves. He directed the music video for Nacimos Llorando by singer Rubio. This video earned him a Latin Grammy 2024 nomination for Best Long Form Music Video. He also led the "Recuérdame Viviendo" campaign for Cerveza Victoria, which became one of the most-watched campaigns in Mexico that year.

It’s clear that jumping into a Prime Video series is a huge step for Fernando Cattori. His inclusion in such a popular show highlights the platform’s commitment to diverse stories and fresh talent.
