Fenerbahçe President Criticizes Mourinho’s ‘Unacceptable’ Portugal Training

Fenerbahçe’s newly appointed president, Sadettin Saran, has openly criticized the Turkish club’s recent pre-season training camp in Portugal under current head coach José Mourinho, deeming the preparation “unacceptable.”

Saran stated that the camp had a “poor stage” which negatively affected players both physically and mentally. His comments were reported by Turkish media outlets.

A primary point of contention was the perceived lack of intensity. Saran highlighted that “there was only one training session per day in Portugal.”

The outspoken criticism from the new president targets the initial period of pre-season led by the celebrated Portuguese coach. Mourinho joined Fenerbahçe in June.

The training camp took place in Portugal between July 15 and July 27. During this period, Fenerbahçe played several preparation matches.

Opponents included Portimonense, Sunderland, Saudi Arabian club Al Ittihad, and Portuguese giants Benfica.
