The representation of the Fencing athletes who will participate starting this Friday in the Bolivarian Games in Valledupar, Colombia, left this Tuesday with the aim of raising the tricolor flag high in that international fair.

The information was released by the president of the Dominican Fencing Federation, Luis Ciprian.

“Our Dominican delegation in general will do a great job in these Games, since they have the support of the Dominican Olympic Committee and the Ministry of Sports,” he argued.

Among the athletes making the trip are Violeta Ramírez, Heidy Valentin, Maiber de la Cruz and Melody Martínez. Also Elsa Mateo and José Lockhart.

He said that the delegate will be the outstanding leader of Semana, Coquele Neuman, who serves as secretary general of the Federation.

“Our athletes will give their best in each competition, in the different modalities that they will activate,” said Ciprian.

He explained that the athletes will arrive in good physical shape, since they have trained very hard for the competition.

He pointed out that the Bolivarian Games is a good tool for Dominican athletes to continue preparing for the upcoming international commitments, especially the Central American and Caribbean Games in El Salvador and the Panam Games in Chile, which will take place in 2003.
