The Dominican Volleyball Federation (Fedovoli) mourned the death of veteran sports writer Tomás Troncoso Cuesta, which occurred early this Monday at his residence in the El Vergel expansion of this city, at the age of 86 years.

The lawyer Alexis García and Professor Nelson Ramírez, president and secretary, respectively, of Fedovoli, stated that this discipline – like others he loved such as baseball, basketball, tennis, golf, athletics and sports of speed – they lose a great ally.

“Our federation deeply regrets the death of this great chronicler and promoter of Dominican sport”, they stated to later highlight that the popular sports communicator’s relationship with volleyball dates back to 1962 on the occasion of the Central American and Caribbean Games “Jamaica ´62 ”.

They indicated that this link was maintained since the time of the players Luciola Pión, Margarita González, Nelly Pineda, as well as the friendship that he had for decades with the great leaders that volleyball has had, among whom they cited the engineer Diego de Moya Canaán, Félix Mario Aguiar, Rolando Miranda and Ervido Creales.

“For the volleyball family, the death of Tomás Troncoso Cuesta is of great regret, who always stayed with us, participating not only in competitions, but also in training, always helping and guiding our athletes so that they were on the right track. Rest in peace, master of the Dominican sports press, ”declared García and Ramírez.

The remains of Troncoso Cuesta will be veiled starting tomorrow at noon at the Blandino Funeral Home on Abraham Lincoln Avenue and will be buried on Wednesday at 12 noon in the Puerta del Cielo Cemetery.
