Federline Memoir Reveals Jamie Lynn’s Private Criticisms of Britney’s Parenting

Kevin Federline’s upcoming memoir, "You Thought You Knew," details private messages from Britney Spears’ sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, to Federline’s current wife, Victoria Prince. The book, set to release October 21, offers a new look into the family’s complex dynamics following Britney’s conservatorship.

Jamie Lynn, 34, reportedly contacted Prince, 42, on at least two occasions since the conservatorship ended in 2021. These communications shed light on the sisters’ strained relationship and Britney’s interactions with her sons.

The initial message came after Britney, 43, allegedly “took out” her frustrations on her sons, Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19, via social media. Jamie Lynn expressed deep concern for her nephews.

"The truth is it makes me want to cry because I feel so much for those boys," Jamie Lynn reportedly wrote. She added, "I can’t imagine how her boys must feel sometimes, but I know the feeling of being a little dinghy trying to survive on a wave caused by someone else’s boat, feeling like you have to rescue yourself."

Jamie Lynn admitted to "starting to resent" Britney for her alleged treatment of Preston and Jayden. She claimed Britney was "incapable" of taking "responsibility."

"I’m still trying to grasp how she could be so oblivious to everything other than herself," the messages continued. Jamie Lynn stated she built her own life quietly, aiming to support Britney in a way healthy for her own well-being.

A second contact from Jamie Lynn occurred after she bought Jayden a piano for Christmas. She expressed joy over Jayden’s happiness and gratitude for Federline and Prince’s parenting.

"I am so grateful that the boys have had you to raise them as polite, grateful, and kind children," Jamie Lynn reportedly wrote. She lauded their efforts in raising the boys and protecting them from "so much chaos."

Jamie Lynn suggested that no amount of money could compensate Federline and Prince for raising the children when Britney "didn’t bother." She expressed certainty that Britney had never thanked them.

"That’s why I wanted you to know how much those of us who love those boys value and support you," Jamie Lynn concluded in the alleged messages.

Britney Spears criticized Federline’s memoir on October 15, calling it a money-making scheme. She posted on X that "those little white lies in the book go straight to the bank, and I’m the only one who really gets hurt by this."

Britney added that she is "a pretty smart woman who has been trying to live a sacred and private life these last five years." She asserted, "I’ve had enough and any real woman would do the same."

Britney’s 13-year conservatorship, which ended in 2021, led to a deep estrangement from her father, Jamie Spears, and affected her relationship with her sons. However, the Grammy winner has reportedly reconnected with Preston and Jayden over the past year.

Federline, 47, stated in an October 18 interview with Us that he maintains an "open-door policy for everyone," including his ex-in-laws and Britney herself.

"I keep them all close. I talk to them," Federline shared about the Spears family. "They know if they need to call me, they can, and I’ll answer."

"You Thought You Knew" will be available on Tuesday, October 21, through Listenin, an audiobook-focused platform.
