Get ready, fans, a legendary figure is making a dramatic return to the screen. Raúl Méndez, the Mexican actor who brought “El Chacorta” to life in “El Señor de los Cielos,” is stepping back into that iconic role. This time, he’s bringing his character, Víctor Casillas, into the spin-off series, “Dinastía Casillas,” and he’s not holding back. Víctor, known as Chacorta, is the older brother of the powerful drug lord Aurelio Casillas, played by Rafael Amaya. He’s coming back with a score to settle against his own family.
In the early seasons of “El Señor de los Cielos,” Chacorta was the calm and smart mind behind the family’s drug business. He kept things running smoothly, even when Aurelio was in trouble or hiding. He was fiercely loyal to Aurelio. Yet, his fiery temper and thirst for revenge made him someone both friends and foes feared. Now, after a long time away, he shows up as a kind of hired gun. He’s armed, dangerous, and leaves a big impression on characters like Ismael Casillas and Diana Ahumada. His scenes are full of surprises, suspense, and lots of action.
Actor Raúl Méndez recently opened up about playing Chacorta again. In an interview clip shared by US Weekly En Español, he said, “It’s a big challenge.” He sees this return as a “great gift from life,” not just for him as an actor, but also for the audience. Fans have wondered for years what happened to Chacorta. Now, “Dinastía Casillas” will finally show where he’s been hiding all this time.
“I am not the same as ten years ago”

The Chacorta we see in “Dinastía Casillas” is very different from his earlier version. Not only is Raúl Méndez, now 50 years old, older himself, but his character has grown. From his first appearance, Chacorta shows more experience and wisdom. He’s no longer just a loyal, dangerous, or hot-headed man. He’s now an expert with weapons. Méndez explained his approach: “As an actor, I am not the same as ten years ago, so my commitment to the character is to make him much more complex, more three-dimensional.”
Chacorta’s main goal in “Dinastía Casillas” is to “recover himself.” He hints at betrayal within his own family. In one scene from the video, Chacorta declares, “All the Casillas abandoned me.” This means he won’t be working with the main characters right away. Méndez shared that for Chacorta, the betrayal comes from his own family, and he has unsettled scores specifically with Ismael Casillas. He also spoke highly of the performances of Iván Arana, who plays Ismael, and Isabella Castillo, who plays Diana, the stars of the spin-off.
Méndez ended by saying, “It’s a gift to deliver this story to the fans. I hope they fall in love with Chacorta again, just like they did years ago.” “Dinastía Casillas” airs every Monday through Friday at 9 PM/8C on the Telemundo network.
