FC Porto solidified its lead in Group D of the European League after defeating Norwegian club Elverum with a robust defensive display and standout performances from its key players.
The Portuguese club secured a 29-25 victory on Tuesday in Norway. This marks their third win in the tournament’s third matchday, reinforcing their top position.
Goalkeeper Sebastian Abrahamsson was pivotal in the win, delivering an exceptional performance. Abrahamsson blocked four of six seven-meter penalty throws and recorded 19 saves. His save efficiency reached 44% during the match.
FC Porto maintained control throughout the game, leading 14-12 at halftime. Offensively, Antonio Martínez contributed significantly with eight goals. Leo Gunnarsson was the team’s top scorer, netting nine goals.
The club’s next fixture is a domestic championship match on Saturday against rivals Benfica. FC Porto will face Elverum again in the European League on November 18, this time on home turf in Portugal.
