Big changes are coming to FC Porto’s handball team. They just signed 31-year-old Linus Persson from Denmark’s GOG.
Persson is a Swedish international player who’s had a great career so far. He was a key player in Sweden’s European Championship win in 2022.
This move to FC Porto is a big deal for Persson. He’s worked with the team’s coach, Magnus Andersson, before – back when he played for Malmo. Persson says it was an easy decision to join FC Porto after talking to Andersson.
“I’ve known Magnus for years, and when he called me, it was a no-brainer,” Persson said.
Persson’s Playing Style
So, what kind of player is Linus Persson? He describes himself as a complete player with lots of experience. He’s played for big clubs in France and Denmark, and he’s won titles with Sweden’s national team.
“I’m not the oldest player, but I’ve got experience playing at a high level,” Persson said. “I can help FC Porto with defense and attack. I’m a strong athlete with lots of skills.”
Persson has played against FC Porto in European competitions before. He’s impressed by the team’s players, like Rui Silva, and the coach, Magnus Andersson.
“FC Porto has smart players and strong pivots,” Persson said. “And with Magnus as coach, we’ve got a great chance of winning.”
FC Porto announced the signing on Twitter, welcoming Persson to the team.
