FC Porto’s basketball team just made a massive splash. They officially announced signing Axel Toupane this Wednesday. This isn’t just any player. Toupane is a French small forward, 33 years old and standing tall at 2.01 meters. What makes this move so exciting is his championship pedigree from the biggest stage in basketball.
You see, Toupane has an NBA championship ring. He earned it with the Milwaukee Bucks during the 2020/21 season. He was a part of that winning team, playing in eight regular season games and three playoff contests. Before his time with the Bucks, Toupane also suited up for other NBA teams like the Denver Nuggets and the New Orleans Pelicans.
His journey isn’t just about the NBA, though. Toupane is now heading back to Europe. He has experience playing across the continent, with previous stints in countries like Greece and Spain. His return brings a blend of top-tier experience and a familiar presence to European courts.
Toupane joins FC Porto as their seventh international player. He adds even more global flavor to an already diverse roster. He will team up with Tanner Omlid, Javian Davis, Márkó Filipovity, Wes Washpun, Jhonathan Dunn, and Jalen Riley. This group of foreign talent aims to make a real impact for the Dragons this season.
