A legend’s spirit will now forever echo through the very grounds where new champions are made. Jorge Costa, a name etched deep into the soul of FC Porto, will live on in a most tangible way. On Monday evening, the club announced a profound tribute to their late leader.
From this Monday, October 6, 2025, the core of ‘blue and white’ football operations will officially change its name. It will now be known as the ‘Centro de Treinos e Formação Desportiva Jorge Costa’. This new title honors a man truly missed by everyone. He was a beloved former captain and professional football director, who passed away too soon in early August.
This change affects the complex in Olival, where FC Porto athletes have trained daily for more than two decades. It was once known simply as the ‘Centro de Treinos e Formação Desportiva PortoGaia’. The club’s proposal for this renaming was approved by the Vila Nova de Gaia City Council. Their decision came during their municipal meeting on Monday. This ensures Jorge Costa’s legacy is woven directly into the future of the club he served with such passion.
