FC Porto is back in action, shaking off the international break’s quiet. The squad hit the training ground today, Tuesday. They are gearing up for a tough away game against Rio Ave this Friday. It’s the sixth match of the Liga Portugal Betclic season, set to kick off at 8:15 PM.
Today’s session at Olival brought a welcome sight for coach Francesco Farioli. Unlike yesterday, all the international players were present. After an extra day of rest, key figures rejoined the group. Diogo Costa from Portugal, Jan Bednarek and Jakub Kiwior representing Poland, Argentina’s Alan Varela, Canada’s Eustáquio, and Denmark’s Victor Froholdt were all back. Even young Rodrigo Mora, who played for Portugal U21, returned to the main squad.
Despite the joy of seeing his international stars return, Farioli still has a puzzle to solve. The team’s medical report lists five players who remain out. Nehuén Pérez recently left the hospital and is now focusing on post-surgery recovery. Alberto Costa is undergoing treatment and working in the gym. Martim Fernandes and William Gomes are both on specialized conditioned training programs. Luuk de Jong is also receiving treatment. All five continue with their individual recovery plans.
With the Rio Ave match drawing near, the Dragons will be back on the training pitch again tomorrow morning. They aim to fine-tune their strategy and prepare for the upcoming league challenge.
